Pilates

Pilates is an invigorating form of exercise that enhances biomechanical body awareness and helps build flexibility, strength and muscular balance in the whole body, particularly addressing the core: abdominals, pelvis and back and also our posture.

It’s an excellent conditioning tool that increases overall mobility. Emphasizing alignment of the spine and correct breathing, Pilates optimizes oxygen flow to the internal organs and muscles, helping restore the body to balance and helping to alleviate back and other pain.

Pilates is a highly adaptable method where each exercise can modified to the needs of the individual, so it is a form of exercise accessible to everyone regardless of age or experience. It can also be undertaken by those with medical conditions, injuries and other limitations and as such is often an advisable approach to reintroduction to exercise.

Indeed, during Jo’s work as the Sports Rehabilitative Instructor with Royal Marines Poole, it was primarily core activation and development that was required by many of the injured personnel, and Pilates was the tool of choice!

Offered at various locations in Lower Parkstone, and also at your home if space permits.
